Nitrogen Generators
Pressure Swing Adsorption Technology

Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) technology is used with specially developed adsorbents called Carbon Molecular Sieve (CMS) to separate nitrogen from air to be able to use pure nitrogen in many applications.

First, air is compressed up to 10 bars with the help of compressors, then air is dried out to remove the moisture in the air either using refrigerant dryers or desiccant dryers. Filtration takes place thereafter to filter out the remaining particles, aerosol and oil which is in the pressurized air stream. Carbon Tower ensures long term oil free nitrogen delivery.

PSA unit consists two tanks filled with CMS. Each column undergoes cyclic sequence of pressurization, generation, equalization and exhaust cycles for continuous flow of high purity nitrogen.

PSA Advantages

Reduction of nitrogen cost
Safe low-pressure nitrogen usage instead of high-pressure cryogenic cylinders
Elimination of logistical and administrative operations
Elimination of orders and deliveries
Ready to use high technology solutions

Membrane Technology

N2 is a hollow fiber membrane gas separator that is used to remove oxygen from compressed air, resulting in N2 purities between 95-99.5%. The polymer is specially tailored for nitrogen generation. Unlike other gas separation membranes, N2 membranes are characterized by a very high flow capacity with a very good air factor, resulting in the optimization of compression and operating cost.

The composition of the product was determined by measurement of the residual oxygen content. The "N2 produced" value is the inert gas content. The pressure is the retentate pressure, namely N2 produced stream discharge pressure. The inlet air divided by "N2 produced" gives the air factor or air/N2 ratio. The lower the air factor, the lower the investment and operating costs.

Field testing and monitoring of a membrane technology showed extreme stable performance regarding N2 production and air consumption.

Depending on the application and the project size, we can customize among all N2 modules and cartridge systems generating nitrogen with a purity range from 95% to 99.9%, with a temperature from 0 to 70 °C.

In a membrane system, a compressed air stream flows through a series of nitrogen production membranes that each removes oxygen, water and carbon dioxide, allowing nitrogen to pass through.

Nitrogen purity and flowrate requirements can affect nitrogen cost. Higher purity comes at a price, but higher volume generally reduces the unit cost of nitrogen. For maximum savings, use a nitrogen purity no higher than the application requires.
